BE THE CHANGE ORGANISATION (BCO) PRESS RELEASE!
November 28, 2017
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Central District Area Abuja
Ref: Slave Market In Libya
BeTheChange Organization also known as Buharian Culture Organization(BCO) wish to draw the attention of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Jeoffery Onyeama, that his inaction to the long suffering, abuse and dehumanization of Nigerian migrants in the hands of Libyans in Libya is in clear violation of Nigeria's foreign policy objectives, as specified in Chapter II, Section 19 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, objectives A thru C.
(A). Promotion and protection of Nigeria's national interests;
(B). Promotion of African integration and support for African unity
(C). Promotion of international cooperation for the consolidation of universal peace and mutual respect among nations and elimination of discrimination in all its manifestation
That, it also shows lack of capacity and gross insensitivity to have failed to act; at least a call for emergency press conference, not even after the CNN's footage of Africans being auctioned off near Tripoli, filmed on a hidden camera and aired on November 14, 2017.
And that, the slave markets, as detailed in the photos that were part of a CNN investigation, are horrific images, that show men with guns to victims' heads, some bound by their feet and suspended upside down, some with open wounds, and some unconscious on the ground.
And that, if Samuel Eto'o, a camerounian footballer can chatter a flight to fly all camerounian migrants stranded in Libya back to Cameroun, why can't Nigeria as a nation do it?
And that, therefore, we in the BCO, in exercise of our constitutional duties and rights under sections 14 (2a-c), 24b, 38, 39 and 40 of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended, hereby demand as follows:
I). The immediate suspension of all treaties, agreements, alliances, pacts, and whatsoever understanding between Nigeria and Libya
II) Immediate shut down of Libyan Embassy and all offices attached to it.
III) Thorough investigation be carried out to see how the trafficking is been organised, who is behind it. How is the monies trail.
IV) Seek some form of justice for the victims. And that Libya be heavily sanctioned
V) Italy, just buried some 26 NIGERIAND. We demand the diplomatic correspondence be made public
VI) Ministry carryout intensive anti human trafficking awareness programs that includes all media outlets, NGOs, CSOs combined, in order to saturate the grassroots with the information.
Whereas we give the Minister seven (7) working days ultimatum to meet our demands otherwise we will escalate our action to physical daily peaceful protest in front of his office calling for his immediate resignation.
And whereas, for years, Libya has been a massive transit hub for sub-Saharan Africans setting sail for Europe with deceit to get them lucrative jobs with bogus pay. But end up in Libya where they are sold and forced into slavery. Forced to toil the farms day and night, or do domestic work under harshest condition, a work environment not even fit for animals. The women are raped daily, force all shapes and sizes of objects into their private parts. Which are video taped and sold as porn in Libya. When victims can no longer toil the fields, or be used as sex objects, their organs are forcibly harvested and sold to the highest bidder. Victims are then dumped in forests to die a slow painful death. beige or ivory color wears to a prom
And whereas, Nigerian Migrants are now sold at Libya public slave auctions for 400 dollars
And whereas, more than 1.5 million migrants have arrived in Europe since 2015, according to UN figures.
TIME TO ACT MR. MINISTER! THIS IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY AND IT MUST STOP NOW!
